Albania is a relatively tiny but very beautiful country in the Balkan region, neighbouring Serbia. It’s probably the least visited southern European countries but that is about to change as people become aware of its fantastic sites. This country has unbelievable, pure white sandy beaches, pretty much untouched mountain regions, and lively, changing cities.
Albania’s clean sandy beaches are gorgeous. The beaches are normally white, sandy beaches except there are a dozen or so pebble beaches also. You could if you like spend time in the hot dry sun on a towel or lease a sunbed, the choice is up to you. Plenty of the beaches are more or less untouched by tourists and some are so out of the way that you can possibly have the beach all to yourself, even in August.
There are many mountain areas in Albania. The mountainous regions in the north are wonderful for skiing or hiking and you can possibly find quite a few waterfalls and fabulous lakes in the region. The mountains in that region are fabulous to view but the other mountain regions are also amazing.
Albanian cities are extremely lively with a cafe culture so there are huge numbers of hip cafes to relax in. Albania cities including Berat are worth taking the time to visit to see the unusual old city area and also to visit a museum.
The Albanian people are extremely friendly and will be excited to show you their country if you spend time there.
